The Gap Between Classroom and Your First Ticket

Training teaches you the applications. Almost nobody teaches you what a live AMS ticket queue actually looks like.

You finished Oracle EPM training but have never opened a real, live support ticket.
Nobody explained what L1, L2, L3, or 'SLA' actually mean once you are on the job.
A user says 'the form isn't calculating' and you don't know where to even start looking.
Interviewers ask if you have AMS or production support exposure, and you don't know how to answer.
You don't know what actually happens during a monthly close, or where you would fit into it.
You don't know when a change is yours to make and when it has to go through governed approval.

This program is four sessions across two weekends of exactly that work, run as live drills on lab pods, with the templates and guides to take into your first weeks on the job.

Who It Is For

Built for People Starting Their Oracle EPM Career

You have studied or trained on Oracle EPM and are new to, or about to start, a support or AMS role. You know the applications from the classroom. This program is about what actually happens once you are handed a live ticket queue.

Recent graduates and freshers

You have completed Oracle EPM training and want live, practical AMS exposure before your first support role.

New hires in their first 30 days

You just joined an AMS team and want the operating model and vocabulary now, not three months from now.

Career switchers

You are moving into Oracle EPM from another field and need to sound and think like a support analyst, fast.

Outcomes

What You Walk Out With

Not a certificate on the wall. Things you can use on Monday.

Read and triage an incoming Oracle EPM support ticket the way a real AMS team does.
Recognize the most common issues that recur across PBCS, EPBCS, and FCCS.
Explain what happens during a monthly close, and where ARCS and Narrative Reporting fit into it.
Know the difference between a change you can make yourself and one that needs EDMCS-governed approval.
Know when to fix something yourself and when to escalate, and how to write it up either way.
Walk into an AMS interview or your first day on the job with a working vocabulary and a 30-day plan.
The 4 Sessions

Foundations to Career-Ready, Weekend by Weekend

October 3-4 & 10-11, 2026 · 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM EST. Each session: a short walk-through, a hands-on drill, then a debrief. Every session recorded.

How Oracle EPM AMS Actually Works

The AMS operating model, the environments, and how to read and triage your first support ticket, across PBCS, EPBCS, and FCCS.

In the session

  • What Application Managed Services means day to day: L1, L2, L3, SLAs, and where the client relationship sits.
  • Environment topology: Prod, Test, Dev, and why you never touch Prod first.
  • Reading a support ticket like an AMS analyst: priority, symptoms, and the questions to ask before you touch anything.
  • PBCS/EPBCS walkthrough: form errors, business rule failures, Smart View issues, security access problems.
  • FCCS walkthrough: consolidation not running, translation gaps, journal issues, what 'stuck' actually looks like.
  • Your first entries in a run-book: what to write down so the next person, or you next month, is not starting from zero.

Live drill

Given three real, sanitized tickets, triage them by priority, identify the first three things to check, and draft your response.

Toolkit you keep

  • AMS terms and acronyms glossary
  • Ticket triage checklist
  • Top recurring issues cheat sheet (PBCS/EPBCS/FCCS)

Close Support · Sunday, October 4, 2026 · 7:00 to 10:00 PM EST

Supporting the Monthly Close

What close support looks like for ARCS and Narrative Reporting, how to read a close calendar, and the tickets that actually show up during a live close.

In the session

  • Monthly close, explained: what actually happens, and where AMS support fits into the calendar.
  • ARCS basics: reconciliation compliance workflow and transaction matching, and what a fresher gets asked to check first.
  • Narrative Reporting basics: report packages, doclets, and why a stale number is usually a refresh problem.
  • Reading a close calendar: key dates, checkpoints, and who owns what.
  • Common close-time tickets: overdue reconciliations, doclet refresh failures, report package sign-off delays.
  • Building a close-support cheat sheet you can reference during your first live close.

Live drill

Given a sample close calendar and two tickets landing mid-close, decide what needs attention first and draft a status update.

Toolkit you keep

  • Close-support cheat sheet
  • Close calendar template
  • Resolution-note template

Change & Escalation · Saturday, October 10, 2026 · 7:00 to 10:00 PM EST

Change, Metadata, and Knowing When to Escalate

Why AMS teams govern change tightly, what EDMCS protects, how to read an update readiness note at a fresher level, and how to judge a fix-it-yourself moment from an escalate-it moment.

In the session

  • EDMCS and metadata: why you never edit a hierarchy directly, and what an approved change request looks like.
  • Walking through a real EDMCS change request end to end: submit, review, approve, subscribe.
  • Reading an update or patch readiness note at a fresher level: what to skim, what to flag to a senior analyst.
  • Escalation: how to tell a five-minute fix from a five-person problem.
  • Writing an escalation note that gets a fast, useful response instead of more questions back.
  • Live queue drill: a mixed batch of tickets spanning everything from Weekend 1.

Live drill

Work a mixed ticket queue spanning PBCS, EPBCS, FCCS, ARCS, and EDMCS; for each ticket, decide to fix or escalate and justify the call.

Toolkit you keep

  • Escalation decision guide
  • EDMCS change request and patch-readiness playbook

Your First 30 Days, and a Full Capstone Simulation

Turning three weekends of practice into a 30-day onboarding plan, interview-ready vocabulary, and a final capstone that simulates your first real week on the job.

In the session

  • Capstone simulation: a full simulated first week, tickets of rising difficulty across every module covered.
  • Building your first 30 days: an onboarding checklist, and what to learn in week one versus month one.
  • Career path: fresher to senior AMS analyst to consultant, and what each step actually requires.
  • Interview prep: common AMS interview questions, answered with the vocabulary built across this program.
  • Turning this program into a resume and LinkedIn story employers recognize.
  • Certificate wrap-up and open Q&A.

Live drill

Full capstone: a simulated first week with four tickets of increasing complexity across all modules covered; triage, resolve or escalate, and write the handoff note for each.

Toolkit you keep

  • First 30 days onboarding checklist
  • Fresher-to-senior AMS career path map
  • Interview prep sheet: AMS terms and sample questions
  • Resume and LinkedIn story template
