Oracle EPM August 2026 Updates
Oracle's August 2026 Cloud EPM update continues two trends we have been watching closely all year: AI capabilities moving from experimental to operational, and the Redwood interface steadily replacing the classic look across every EPM module. Here is what actually matters for Planning, FCCS, ARCS, EPCM, Narrative Reporting, Tax Reporting, and Freeform teams this cycle.
This summary is based on Oracle's official August 2026 EPM Cloud Readiness documentation. If your team is on monthly or quarterly cloud updates, these changes are worth reviewing before your next refresh window.
AI Takes Another Step Forward: EPM Assistants in AI Agent Studio
The headline update this month is not a new feature toggle, it is a full implementation playbook. Oracle expanded the Getting Started Guide for Administrators with a comprehensive chapter on implementing EPM Assistants inside AI Agent Studio, applicable across Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, Freeform, Narrative Reporting, Planning, and Tax Reporting.
The new guidance walks administrators through a structured, end-to-end workflow:
- Defining scope and requirements for the AI agent
- Configuring access and authentication
- Importing EPM Assistants into the environment
- Validating agent behavior before go-live
- Deploying with phase-specific completion criteria
Why it matters:Oracle is clearly signaling that AI agents are becoming a standard part of the EPM administrator's toolkit, not a side experiment. A documented, phased rollout process reduces the risk of a rushed or insecure AI Agent Studio deployment, and gives implementation teams a repeatable pattern instead of ad hoc configuration.
Redwood UI Rollout Continues Across the Platform
Oracle keeps modernizing the classic EPM interface one page at a time, and August 2026 brings three more pages into the Redwood design system:
- Appearance page: redesigned with Redwood across Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, EPCM, FCCS, Freeform, Narrative Reporting, Planning, and Tax Reporting.
- Variables pages: the User Variables and Substitution Variables pages in Planning, Freeform, and EPCM now use the Redwood layout.
- Alias Tables page: also redesigned with Redwood in Planning, Freeform, and EPCM, and now accessible directly from the Home screen instead of only through the Navigation menu.
Why it matters: Each redesign brings the same practical benefits: better navigation, stronger browser compatibility, improved accessibility, and a more responsive experience. It also means administrator training materials and screenshots need a periodic refresh, since the classic UI footprint keeps shrinking release over release.
Automation and REST API Improvements for Admins
Beyond AI and interface changes, this update adds a few practical improvements for teams that automate EPM operations with EPM Automate and REST APIs:
- Updated default file location logic for EPM Automate on Windows. EPM Automate now follows a clearer priority order to decide where it stores runtime files, starting with the
EPMAUTOMATE_BASE_DIRenvironment variable, then falling back to theProgramData\Oracle\EPM Automatedirectory or the current working directory based on permissions and prior session history. - New
deleteFoldercommand and REST API. Administrators can now delete a custom inbox folder and everything inside it in one call, instead of removing files one at a time. Core system folders such asinbox, profitinbox, andprofitoutboxremain protected. - New REST API to generate an Application Diagnostics report on demand. Available for Planning and Freeform, this lets administrators run diagnostics whenever needed rather than only after a cube refresh, with built-in file name validation and job status reporting.
Why it matters: None of these are headline features, but together they reduce manual cleanup work, tighten file handling security on Windows, and give admins more control over when they validate application health. This is exactly the kind of update that pays off in day-to-day EPM support work.
What This Means for EPM Teams
Put together, the August 2026 update reflects where Oracle Cloud EPM is heading: agentic AI becoming a standard, governed capability rather than a novelty, and a platform-wide push toward a single modern, Redwood-based experience. Neither shift is a one-time event. Both roll out incrementally, module by module and page by page, which means EPM administrators and consultants need to review readiness notes every cycle rather than only at major version boundaries.
If your organization has not yet scoped an EPM Assistants pilot in AI Agent Studio, this is a good update to start that conversation, since Oracle has now published the implementation roadmap end to end.
